4 Days in Palm Springs
Mexico? Worried about COVID. Hawaii? too far. But Palm Springs sounded perfect as a warm our bones in the sun getaway, esp when hubs had a work trip there anyway. We tacked on a long weekend from April 1-5. This is a super chill aka lazy trip, when big decisions mean picking lunch poolside, and it’s all about the food. And soaking in the Moroccan design. But we met family for a day so we ramped up the last day! I would go again next year 10/10
La Serena Villas boutique hotel and restaurant with 18 rooms
avoid Coachella and The Indian Wells tennis tourney unless you want it
book ahead….especially dinners
easy to add on a day at the Joshua Tree and Shield’s Date Farm
Day 1
Travel day, arrive 9:30pm. Small outdoor airport, easy to get in and out of. Hubs stocked our fridge with a few favorites for a late nite snack under the stars on our patio, with the gas fireplace lit.
Day 2
Breakfast is included with our room and you don’t want to miss it. That’s saying a lot because my FAVORITE breakfast place is Farm. Great pool and comfy padded double wide chaise lounges where we plan to spend the day. Lunch is halibut tacos and fresh fruit platter. They have bikes if you want to tool around and peep the architecture. Great relaxing pool vibe with friendly staff.
Price fixe at Farm
Did I mention I could eat breakfast/lunch there every day? This time we tried dinner and it was equally special. It’s a fixed price, multi-course meal and had wonderful live music. Felt like we were in France, and it was a short walk to the hotel.
Day 3
Rinse and repeat
Day 4
We are so lucky to meet my brother, sister-in-law, and niece who come over from LA, so we get off our butts and meet them at the Palm Springs aerial tram. Book ahead online or go the day of (early) and get tickets. We got there at 10 and had no problems getting tickets for 10:45 but it was hoppin. Great hiking trails and views. Plan for it to be 30-40 degrees cooler at the top! The rest of our day included a lite lunch, happy hour, checking out the great sister hotel right next door Del Marcos which is mid-century modern architecture and a great pool (you can order the same room service menu as LSV). I thought I’d look over and see the Rat Pack sipping a martini at happy hour :) We had dinner under the stars with family, celebrating Amy’s bday at Sugar High, La Serena Villas rooftop restaurant.
